Who we are ?
Daughters of the Diaspora: Return Home is more than a travel narrative; it is a sacred telling of return, remembrance, and reclamation. Through the voices of five women who journey to Ghana on an educational service mission with founder Lorie James, Purpose Youth Foundation, this book captures what it means to return not merely to a place, but to a deeper knowing of self, lineage, and purpose.
For three of the women, this journey marks their first step onto the African continent; for two, it is a homecoming shaped by memory and reflection. As each woman shares her lived experience, a powerful common thread emerges—one that can only be spoken through the lens of Daughters of the Diaspora. Their stories reveal the emotional, spiritual, and cultural awakenings that occur when ancestral connection meets intentional service, learning, and community engagement.
This collective work is grounded in reflection, consciousness, and purposeful action. Each Daughter of the Diaspora weaves her own narrative alongside the voices of the other women, offering context, insight, and a guiding framework that invites readers into a deeper exploration of identity, belonging, and global responsibility.
Each contributor writes not only to share her experience but also to educate, inspire, and ignite a flame in others, calling readers to look beyond what they know, question inherited narratives, and experience life beyond the familiar. Together, these stories serve as an invitation: to return home in body, in spirit, and in truth.
Daughters of the Diaspora: Return Home is a testament to courage, connection, and the transformative power of saying yes to returning home.
